3D Printing

3D printing can feel like a big step for any woodworker. This is why I have made some of the choices I have with machines and accessories.

Bambu lab is a great place to start so I have linked the exact machines I have below.

This is the 3rd machine I bought. It is a little pricier than the starter machines but with a dual nozzle it opens up quicker and easier 2 colour or 2 filament printing. With the usually plug and play style Bambu Lab set up and use it makes for easy use.

This is the 2nd machine I bought. I consider this to be one of the best all rounder machines around. Good value and incredibly good quality prints. With the usually plug and play style Bambu Lab set up and use it makes for easy use.

Currently PETG is the only filament I use as I have found it to be consistent in quality, easy to use and strong enough for what I need. But the best reason for me is that my printers live in my office and this gives off the least emissions of anything I have seen.

Plastic scrapers are ideal but sometimes they just dont

get the job done. This does. But be careful of the 3D

print bed so as not to damage it.

I print with PETG and CA glue is the perfect quick and easy glue to use to attach parts together.

CA glue activator is for when you want an instant bond. Spray on one piece and apply CA glue to the other and press.

I tested a number of small pliers and these are the ones that stood up to the test.

I tested a number of flush cutting snips and these are the ones that stood up to the test. Really handy for cutting stray filament flush.

Not recomended for heavy duty jobs but for more delicate filament removal these are really handy.

These nail files are great for fine tuning a print. Maybe smooth off a rough edge or where supports are removed.

All metal digital calipers. Great for accurate measuing. All metal feels better and stronger.

A deburring tool does exactly that. It cuts away Burrs.

I tested a number of multi tools and this one is great for 3D printing. Note that it is mini so fits great in your pocket. 10 in 1 tool.

If you have part used rolls of filament, they need to be stored in a way that moisture cannot get to them. These are great. Throw in a couple of silica bags and you are good to go.

Silica bags. Moisture absorbers. I use them in vac bags when storing filament and in my AMS just to be safe.

Can be used to flattten curling bottom print layers. I however use it mainly to correct discolouring of dark filament bottom layers.

Scalpels are great for cleaning up prints and these have a number of different shaped blades. Just be careful when you take them out of the box.

Printers need to be cleaned regularly. These are great. Combine them with alcohol for print bed cleaning between uses.

I use this with a micro fibre cloth to clean my print bed between every use. It helps to remove grease allowing the filament to stick better.
