Important Woodworking Accessories
It’s the little things that matter.
Every small tool and accessory that I have used and found super handy in the last few years. They all have a place in my work flow and are all highly recommended.
Pick the ones that will work for jobs you see in the near future. No point buying them if they are not useful right now.
If you make your own cabinets with plywood then edge banding is probably part of the process. The is the best way I know of trimming the excess off. Quick tip. Edge band the pieces before glueing or screwing them together.
Jack of all trades as far as accessories are concerned. This has so many uses from nail removal to screwdriver to roller cleaner and small pry bar.
Definitely not for lighting in the workshop. These are for rubbing on the sole of your hand plane to reduce friction.
Non latex gloves for general jobs. I found these when I built the workshop. Great grip and comfort. No danger of overheating and long lasting. Dont recommend you wear them with any power tools though.
Nitrile bonded cork sheets. These are for any
jig you make that needs grip. Or line your vice
jaws on the inside. Non marking and grippy.
My favourite well priced hinge for box building. Nothing fancy here, just a good hinge to use while you are improving your skills.
Hand held metal detector. For anyone
working with reclaimed wood. This is
perfect for finding stray nails.

Nice to have a knife for general crafty stuff. Not ever going to replace the Stanley knife but the snap off blade gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
The most popular tool of 2025. Probably because it is of use in every workshop. Picking up screws lost on the floor, or arbour nuts in table saw. And so much more. Plus this is heavy duty.
Sometimes a gift that is not woodworking is what is called for and this pen is a delight to use and so handy and tactile
I love a handy multitool and though I was caught out by the size of this one. It is a mini 13 in 1 tool. It turns out to be super handy and a great gift.
Tactile and useful. I loved the design of this compass and the feel of using it.
Furniture markers and wax. For touching up small chips and scrapes.
If you are leaving your workshop to do a job. Dont just put your impact driver bits in your pocket. This keyring holds them all and far more.
Hex / Allen keys are often lost. This set keeps them all in the same place.
Small white board to scribble cut lists or to-do lists. Wipe and repeat.
